The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) connects your jawbone to your Skull to help you perform the very important function necessary to speak or chew. Unlike your other joints, this unique joint moves like a sliding hinge, so because of its unique movement, the joint can fall out of alignment and become inflamed.

Temporomandibular inflammation can cause all kinds of other problems:

• Unexplained sensitivity in the teeth
• Congestion/Ringing in the ears(tinnitus)
• Pain in one or both of the temporomandibular joints
• Aching pain in and around your ear
• Difficulty chewing or pain while chewing
• Aching facial pain
• Locking of the joint, making it difficult to open or close your mouth
